When the fruit orchards of Cho Lach enter their peak harvest season, this fertile island land transforms to welcome the Commercial Fair for the 2026 Mid-Year Festival (taking place from June 13 to June 21, 2026). Realized from Action Plan No. 1427/KH-UBND of the Commune People's Committee, this 9-day-and-night event serves as both a trade catalyst and an open cultural space. It fully honors the rustic beauty of the Southern river region while seamlessly integrating trendy entertainment, sports, and brilliant electric fireworks displays.
Every year when the 5th day of the 5th lunar month approaches, people look forward to returning to their cultural roots. This year, under Action Plan No. 1427/KH-UBND issued by the Cho Lach Commune People's Committee on May 19, 2026, this hometown festival is being upgraded into a large-scale event.
Following structural guidance from Official Dispatch No. 2433/SCT-QLTM by the Department of Industry and Trade and Announcement No. 135-TB/ĐU by the Commune Party Committee, a well-blended cultural and commercial space is taking shape. Moving away from small, spontaneous activities, this year's fair is strategically planned to provide a powerful boost to both the economy and tourism of the island region.

Why Cho Lach, and why during the Mid-Year Festival? This event carries the great ambitions of local authorities and residents, acting as a strategic lever to preserve cultural identity while unlocking economic breakthroughs.
2.1. Meeting Local Entertainment and Shopping Demands
The Mid-Year Festival has long been a sacred spiritual and cultural tradition in Vietnam, deeply rooted as the "pest-killing day." The master plan is designed first and foremost to provide a healthy, joyful space that serves the spiritual life and fully meets the shopping and entertainment needs of local people after hard days of working in the fertile orchards.
2.2. Expanding Trade Connections and Promoting River Region Specialties
Cho Lach is widely known as the "kingdom" of delicious fruits, seedlings, and ornamental plants. The fair serves as a "golden bridge" to introduce, promote, and sell handicraft products, fresh fruits, and unique flora to visitors from inside and outside the province. This actively drives the growth of local trade, services, and eco-tourism.
Mark your calendar: The fair runs continuously for 9 days and nights, from June 13, 2026, to June 21, 2026. Corresponding to the lunar calendar from April 28 to May 7, the event covers the peak days of the Mid-Year Festival.
3.1. The Four Primary Event Hubs
The fair features an open-space concept that extends across four major cultural and economic locations in Cho Lach commune:
3.1.1. Cho Lach Commune Stadium – The Heart of the Festival Nights
This venue serves as the central hub of the entire event, hosting the grand opening ceremony at 18:00 on June 13, 2026. The stadium brings together general commercial booths and a lively music stage lit up every night.
3.1.2. The Public Service Center Yard – Food Paradise
For food lovers, this is the ultimate destination. This zone focuses on traditional folk cakes, authentic Southern food stalls, and tourism promotion booths.
3.1.3. Commercial Planning Zone (Former District People's Committee Site)
A dedicated area showcasing fine woodwork, handicrafts, and modern gardening technologies. This is the ideal spot for those looking for artistic wooden pieces or wishing to learn new agricultural practices.
3.1.4. Stadium Sidewalks (Behind the Former District Party Committee Office)
This street transforms into a vibrant "Fruit Street" where visitors can browse and buy fresh agricultural produce directly from local orchards.
With an expected capacity of 200 to 250 booths, the fair brings unprecedented variety. Every corner is logically arranged to create a seamless experience for visitors.
4.1. Commercial Section and Entertainment Games at the Stadium
The master plan specifies that the stadium will house approximately 150 general commercial booths and a music stage. Notably, 10 booths are dedicated entirely to entertainment games. These games are completely wholesome and non-gambling, ensuring a carefree and fun entertainment space for families and children.
4.2. Folk Cake Identities and Orchard Culinary Spaces
At the Public Service Center yard, the organizers will set up a large 200-square-meter sheltered pavilion to accommodate 12 folk cake booths. Alongside this are 20 rich food stalls and 30 booths from commercial enterprises. All blend together to create a unique culinary festival, allowing visitors to snack their way through the venue without ever getting bored.
The 2026 Cho Lach Mid-Year Festival Fair features more than just shopping; it offers a spectacular series of cultural, sporting, and artistic activities.
5.1. The Folk Cake Area – Honoring Traditional Culinary Essence
Led by the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Cho Lach Commune, the folk cake section promises to gather the most unique traditional pastries of the Mekong Delta. From crispy savory crepes and mini sizzling pancakes to pyramid sticky rice cakes, all delicacies will be vividly recreated, rich with coconut milk and the fragrant scent of new harvest glutinous rice.
5.2. Open Pickleball Tournament – A Modern Sports Wave
A highly innovative and exciting addition to this year’s plan is the Open Pickleball Tournament, featuring competitions in two categories: doubles and women's doubles. The tournament takes place at the Dragon Sport Cho Lach courts. This combination of traditional holiday culture and a trendy sport is set to attract a large crowd of young sports enthusiasts and athletes.
5.3. Low-Altitude Artistic Electric Fireworks Display on Festival Night
This is undoubtedly the most anticipated moment of the entire event series! Right on the night of the 5th day of the 5th lunar month, the sky over Cho Lach will be brilliantly lit by a 15-minute low-altitude artistic electric fireworks show at the Commune Stadium. Supervised by the Commune Military Command with 50 million VND in socialized funding, this performance promises to deliver unforgettable emotions, closing the main festival day on a perfect note.

To ensure that a festival lasting 9 days and nights runs smoothly, the Cho Lach Commune People's Committee has assigned tasks very strictly to each department, placing visitor safety and experience as the highest priorities.
6.1. Ensuring Security, Fire Safety, and Traffic Control
The Commune Police play the leading role, maintaining a continuous presence throughout the fair to preserve public order and direct traffic, preventing any congestion or security issues. The Market Management Board is responsible for strictly regulating parking lots and ensuring clear price listings to completely eliminate overcharging or price gouging.
6.2. Food Safety Control and Product Quality Assurance
The Commune Health Station coordinates strict inspections across the food and folk cake areas, keeping medical teams on standby to handle any emergencies. Concurrently, Market Management Team No. 01 closely monitors prices and product origins. The organizing committee firmly rejects counterfeit, low-quality, or expired goods to maximize consumer protection.
6.3. Guaranteeing Power Infrastructure and Environmental Sanitation
Cho Lach Electricity surveyed the area and established a priority plan to supply safe, continuous power to the entire fairgrounds, including installing a dedicated substation before May 30, 2026. Waste collection and transportation before, during, and after the fair are also managed carefully by the Market Management Board to keep the festival space green, clean, and beautiful.
